Live with your Australian partner

Partner visas encompass some of the most widely accessed means of migration to Australia. Your relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident is one of the ways by which you may be able to live in Australia permanently.

Specific visas covered by this category include those relating to genuine and continuing relationships between a spouse, de facto or same sex partner. A visa also exists to cover the situation where you are engaged to be married and wish to travel to Australia to plan your wedding.

It is important to be aware that a de-facto relationship, marriage or interdependent relationship with an Australian does not give you any automatic right to live here.

You will need to be assessed against relevant requirements, including the ability to prove that your relationship is a genuine and ongoing one.

General requirements

All visa subclasses require the applicant and their family members to meet what is known as basic requirements.

These usually relate to age, health, character and English language ability.

If you do not satisfy the basic requirements that relate to the subclass of visa you are applying for then you have no prospects of securing a visa to permit you to enter Australia.

Your previous immigration history is taken into account when deciding to approve or deny an application. So when entering and remaining in Australia you must ensure that you abide by the conditions and guidelines that relate to your current visa or you put at risk any future prospects you may have to migrate.

Preliminary assessment

Please complete your current personal details below and someone from Australian Immigration Advisors will contact you to advise you of the next step.

You may have noticed other migration websites offering a free online assessment. Whilst these may give you a basic indication of whether a category is suitable for you or not they are purely a guide and have not taken into account all your current circumstances.

We do not offer a free assessment but contact you to get all the relevant facts to make an informed decision about your prospects. We think your future in Australia is well worth the small sum you may be requested to invest in securing this advice.
